At first I had a hard time getting into this book. The writing style is great but I would kind of get lost a bit as it meandered between the two stories. This may have, in part, been do to the fact that I wasn't feeling well at the time. Later, I went to my bookshelf, saw The Girl in the Road and felt guilty that I hadn't finished it. I thought "Neil German liked this novel, what is wrong with you?" So I gave it another try.
I'm glad I did. Once you get going its an amazingly imagined journey of two girls from different cultures and times. It is a dizzying, emotional roller coaster that will leave you astonished.
